I’m based right here in Hanover, PA and most of my work starts from this little corner of South Central Pennsylvania. Photographing in Hanover, PA

Hanover has a bit of everything in a small radius—downtown streets and alleys, neighborhoods with tree-lined sidewalks, nearby farms and fields, and spots like Codorus State Park just a short drive away. It works well if you want photos that feel personal and familiar without needing to drive to a big city. Weddings, seniors, families, and teams can all get something that feels like them here.

Downtown Hanover & The Square

Brick storefronts, sidewalks, alleys, and the square give downtown Hanover a classic small-town feel. It’s great for seniors and couples who want something simple and timeless without having to drive far.

Parks, Trails & Local Reservoirs

Hanover has a surprising amount of nature close by local parks and trails, Codorus State Park, Sheppard-Myers Reservoir, and Long Arm Reservoir. These spots are perfect for families and seniors who want trees, water, and open space. Sunset sessions here usually feel relaxed and a little more nature-forward.

Schools, Fields & Gyms

For sports and team photos, we can use your home field, court, or gym in the Hanover area. Keeping things on your turf makes the photos feel more personal and gives you images that actually look like your season, not a random stock backdrop.

Planning tips & FAQ

When is the best time of day for photos in Hanover?

Parks, fields, and water locations like Codorus, Sheppard-Myers, and Long Arm usually look best around sunset when the light is soft and the sky starts to color up.

What should we wear or bring?

Wear something you can move in and feel like yourself in. Neutrals and solid colors usually photograph best, but one person in a bolder color or pattern can look great too. Avoid big logos or graphics if you can.

For families and seniors, think coordinated, not matching.

For sports sessions, bring your uniform, warm-ups, and any gear you want in the photos.

It’s also helpful to bring: comfortable shoes for walking, water, and a jacket if it’s cold we can always set things down between shots.

Do we need a permit for photos in Hanover?

Most simple sessions around town or at local parks don’t need a formal permit, but schools, private properties, and some park locations do have rules about professional photography. Once we pick locations, I’ll check what’s allowed and, if permission is needed, we’ll sort that out before session day.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the forecast looks rough heavy rain, storms, or dangerous heat we’ll talk a day or two before your session and decide whether to adjust the time, switch locations, or reschedule. I’d rather move things than force a session where everyone is miserable.

That said, if it’s just rain or snow with no lightning, that can actually make for some really fun, moody photos. If you’re up for it, we can lean into the weather instead of running from it and plan a session that embraces the umbrellas, snow, and puddles.
